The best decoration of any holiday is, of course, sports. The highlight of the program of the national holiday Sabantuy is horse racing and Quresh wrestling.

Quresh wrestling is a sports folklore that has passed through the centuries. Quresh tournaments were held in addition to Sabantuy at all major holidays, weddings and at the conclusion of large transactions, auctions.

Kuresh wrestling has many varieties among all the Turkic peoples. Wrestling on sashes (wide belt) in the Volga region among the Tatars and Bashkirs. Among the Chuvash people and in Kazakhstan, foot wrestling is actively used in wrestling. Tatar Kuresh is based on the classic struggle with the use of towels (sashes, belts). The duration of the fight is from two to four minutes, depending on the category of wrestlers (men, women, age, weight)

The Sabantua tournament is held according to the Olympic system without consolation fights. Wrestlers stand in a rack according to the rules and can make throws of the opponent. Throws are evaluated by the judges. In modern tournaments, wrestlers usually fight on free-style wrestling mats, but in rainy weather, athletes fight on ordinary grass. After all the stages of the tournament, the absolute batyr is determined, who receives the main prize-a ram. Valuable prizes at the Sabantuy are awarded to both young men and veteran athletes.
